What is VHMS Bagus! Site Analyzer?

VHMS Bagus! Site Analyzer is a software used to analyze data downloaded from mining equipments such as dump trucks, hydraulic excavators and dozers made by Komatsu. A number of electronic sensors planted in the equipments produce the raw data which are temporarily kept in a memory bank. The raw data would be downloaded regularly into a personal computer wirelessly (or by cable, in some old models).

The VHMS Bagus! software would then process the raw data and upload it in a database for future use. The software includes functionalities such as chart generator to display series of machine condition parameters, PDF report generator, user profiling, XML export and import, etc.

Project History

KOMATSU, one of the major heavy equipment manufacturers, has put their effort on monitoring the performance of the heavy equipment (i.e. dump trucks, excavators, dozers) by planting electronic sensors in various parts of the equipment. The values from the sensors are then required to be viewed in an easy and comfortable ways, i.e. as charts/graphics and formatted tables, to regularly monitor the equipment various conditions (parts temperature, injection pressure, payloads, etc.).

There was the beginning of VHMS Bagus! application evolution. RSTI helped KOMATSU on designing and developing the first VHMS Bagus! application. When the first version of VHMS Bagus! started to become operational, more requirements were gathered from the users as more experience gained. Those requirements became the trigger to develop new versions through the latest VHMS Bagus! LT version 1.1. Regional KOMATSU offices (i.e. Singapore and Japan) are also eager to monitor the developement of VHMS Bagus! by trying and testing the software and gave us blessing and support to continue the project.

One of the aspect of the project complexity is that most deployment sites are located in remote mining locations which were not always having good connection to the headquarter. Various platform and network configuration are also contributed in the complexity of the project. As RSTI's and KOMATSU's experience grows along the project, VHMS Bagus! software becoming more mature as we can see it today. More functionality upgrades are already in the agenda, and more perfection effort are at work now.

Current Version - VHMS Bagus! LT version 1.1

The major differences for the current version compared to the previous one are:

• VHMS Bagus! is now a windows desktop application
• User of the applications are: equipment vendor, distributor (in headquarter and branches) and equipment operators (in headquarter and branches)

Current version of VHMS Bagus! LT is having the following functonalities:

• Software activation mechanism, to prevent unauthorised use of the software (see the activation diagram for more detail)
• User profile management, to define software behaviour for each user
• Fleet monitoring, to see the status overview of all machine
• Overall machine chart, to display machine parameter values from many machines in a single chart
• SMR and six parameters chart, to display SMR chart and up to 6 individual machine parameter charts
• Combine chart, to display up to six machine parameters values from 1 machine in a single chart
• Payload chart, to display monthly payload chart for dump trucks
• Fault history, to display fault history values, presented in tables
• XML export and import, to facilitate data transfer to customer sites
• Automatic XML generation, to automatically generate XML data files update and send the files automatically via electronic mail to each user
• Several reporting pages
• Data compression module, to compress various generated files
• File transfer module, to transfer raw data files from branches to several destinations including headquarter
• and other supporting modules such as machine group assignment, machine management, access rights management, etc.

Previous Version

All previous versions are developed as web based applications. The previous versions are deployed only in distributor headquarter and branches. Since the launching of the VHMS Bagus! LT version 1.1, all previous versions are soon to be replaced.
